It is great to have fulfilled my 3-year term as Treasurer for one year and Chair of the Board of Directors for two years at the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area.
I have enjoyed working with such a great Board of Directors. They kept me on my toes all the time! I am proud of the achievements that have been made this year by the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area, its clients, volunteers and staff.
Our staff at the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area is committed to providing support, awareness and education, needle exchange, educational seminars, fundraising endeavors – concerts and golf, the Walk for Life, and various fun activities. It is only fair to stand up and indicate appreciation for the work that the staff has done in the past year and has planned for the upcoming year. Thank you very much Heather, Barb, Todd, Jenn, Andrea, Crystal, Tricia and many other volunteers.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Furtney, Executive Director of the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area. Jennifer has done a great amount of work this past year. Her leadership is a definite asset to the AIDS Committee. I would like to see the AIDS Committee continue to flourish under the leadership of our Executive Director, Jennifer.
The second person, of whom I would like to say few words, is Barb. As I mentioned last year, she is the backbone of our office. Her support and minute taking for our Board meetings are greatly appreciated. She also took good care of us by ordering sandwiches for the Board of Directors and chocolate-dipped strawberries for Jennifer.
Once again, I would like to thank all of you for coming out this evening. I would like to thank all of you for allowing me to serve as your Chair for the past two years; it has been a great honour and privilege.
Respectfully submitted,
Arif Majeed
Chair of the Board of Directors
It has been a great pleasure serving the community of North Bay by sitting on the Board of Directors of ACNBA as Second Chair, for the past year.
In October of 2000, I attended the Annual General Meeting of the Ontario AIDS Network in Toronto, which was great for networking, and realizing the fact that agencies from all across Ontario are facing the same problems and issues. We are not alone in our struggle in the fight against AIDS.
April and May saw everyone in two strategic planning sessions with Darien Taylor of the Organizational Development Program. Very interesting to see how the Board and staff think along the same lines in so many areas.
With the support of the Board, ACNBA continues its involvement in federal and provincial AIDS activities, as well as continuing to increase its local presence.
I look forward to the opportunity of serving this agency as First Chair for the next two years. I look forward to the challenges that we will face together as a Board and staff, working together to meet the needs of clients, Board and staff. I look forward to the opportunities that will present themselves so that we might all grow and develop as individuals.
There are too many people to thank individually, but thank you staff, volunteers and fellow Board members. A special thank you to Jennifer Furtney, Executive Director, for her guidance, patience and expertise on so many issues. You keep us on track.
Respectfully submitted,
Rex Hiscock
Second Chair
