The AIDS
Committee of North Bay and Area gratefully acknowledges the financial support of
the Ontario Trillium Foundation,
an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. With $100
million in annual funding from the province's charitable gaming initiative, the
Foundation provides grants to elegible charitable and not-for-profit
organizations in the arts, culture, sports, recreation, environment and social
service sectors.
The AIDS
Committee of North Bay and Area is:

- a member of the Canadian AIDS Society
- a member of the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce
- a registered charitable organization
- funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health
- funded by Health Canada
Who we are:
The AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area (ACNBA) is a community based,
non-profit organization serving people in North Bay and Area.
Our Purpose:
To assist and support all persons infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and to
limit the spread of the virus through education and outreach strategies.
What We Offer:
Support and assistance
through:
- social opportunities
- one-on-one counselling
- inter-agency referrals and liaison
- information on medical treatments and other therapies
Education for individuals,
employers, community groups, agencies, post-secondary institutions
on:
- HIV/AIDS
- HIV transmission, prevention and testing
- responding effectively to an HIV+ employee
- work place safety
- safer sex
- risk reduction

- videos and books
- pamphlets and posters
- recent studies on HIV/AIDS
- computer/internet access
Volunteer opportunities:
- committees
- board positions
- education/outreach strategies
- clerical work
- general/specific events
- fundraising endeavours
- Volunteers receive ongoing training and support.
Why you should care:
There are people in North Bay and area who are infected and affected by HIV.
HIV continues to infect in Canada. Many of us already know what it is like to
live with AIDS. AIDS is a fact of life and we all must live with its presence.
Learning about HIV now will enable you to deal more effectively with the
reality of HIV in your community.
